In September, Dr. Anthony Lombardo attended the annual meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. The meeting was held in Vienna, Austria. This five-day conference brought together thought leaders both from across Europe and across the globe. Through lectures, general assemblies, and skills transfer courses, Dr. Lombardo shared knowledge about the latest ophthalmic surgery techniques.
Of particular emphasis were some of the newer cataract surgery techniques as well as intraocular lenses associated with a decreased need for glasses after cataract surgery. Although cataract surgery is one of the most common and safest surgeries available, Eye Surgeons of Indiana remains at the cutting edge looking for ways to make the surgery even safer and more efficacious.
