Bilal Ahmed, MD

Dr. Bilal Ahmed is a board-certified, fellowship trained cataract and refractive surgeon dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care with a focus on exceptional visual outcomes and surgical precision. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa, consistently recognized among the nation’s top ophthalmology programs, where he also served as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed a high-volume fellowship in cataract and refractive surgery at Cleveland Eye Clinic, receiving advanced training in premium cataract surgery and modern vision correction procedures, including EVO ICL, SMILE, LASIK, and PRK.

Dr. Ahmed brings extensive surgical experience in cataract and refractive surgery, with particular expertise in refractive cataract techniques, astigmatism management, and advanced-technology lens options. His approach emphasizes meticulous surgical planning, precision, and individualized visual goals to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes and reduce their dependence on glasses. He is committed to providing an exceptional patient experience while maintaining close communication and continuity with referring providers. 

Dr. Ahmed is also actively involved in ophthalmic research and education. He has presented research on the latest advances in intraocular lens technology at leading national and international meetings, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). Throughout his residency and fellowship training, he was recognized with multiple awards for excellence in teaching and leadership and remains passionate about advancing ophthalmic education and sharing clinical and surgical insights with his peers.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ahmed enjoys playing tennis, fitness, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family.
