Anthony J. Lombardo, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in refractive, cataract, and corneal surgery. He completed both his Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he graduated cum laude. Numerous national awards, including grants from the National Institutes of Health, supported his four years of research.
Following a one-year internal medicine internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Lombardo completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. Subsequently, he was selected for a prestigious one-year subspecialty fellowship in refractive surgery at Minnesota Eye Consultants.
Dr. Lombardo serves as an instructor to train other ophthalmologists in LASIK and cataract surgery and has served as an investigator for several FDA clinical studies. Dr. Lombardo stays active in the ophthalmic community through publishing journal articles, authoring textbook chapters, and presenting at national meetings.
