What Are Cataract Treatments?

Cataract treatments are procedures and interventions designed to remove clouded natural lenses and restore clear vision. These treatments range from standard surgical removal to advanced laser-assisted techniques and premium lens implants that correct vision beyond cataract removal. Every treatment is tailored to your eyes, lifestyle, and long-term visual goals.

Why Choose Eye Surgeons of Indiana?

Eye Surgeons of Indiana has performed over 350,000 ocular procedures across our network.

Each surgeon is board-certified and trained in advanced techniques such as laser cataract surgery and refractive cataract surgery.

We combine decades of experience and human expertise with state-of-the-art technology to achieve the most optimal vision outcome possible for you. We take the time to educate patients because we care. We involve them in decision-making and focus on long-term outcomes rather than solely on surgical volume. We invite you to see for yourself: The difference is clear.

Cataract Treatments

Standard Cataract Surgery

This procedure removes the natural clouded lens and replaces it with a clear intraocular lens (IOL). Standard cataract surgery is highly effective for improving vision at a single focal distance, typically for distance vision. It is performed under topical anesthesia and a mild IV sedative for patient comfort. This surgery is covered by most insurance plans.

Advanced Cataract Surgery

Advanced cataract surgery uses precision techniques to enhance visual outcomes and reduce recovery time. Surgeons may use high-resolution imaging, custom measurements, and advanced surgical instruments to tailor the procedure for each patient’s eye. This method can improve visual accuracy and reduce post-operative dependence on glasses.

Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser-assisted cataract surgery uses femtosecond laser technology to perform critical steps of the procedure with pinpoint precision. Laser cataract surgery can create more accurate incisions, soften the cataract for easier removal, and allow for more precise placement of premium Intraocular Lenses (IOLs).

Refractive Cataract Surgery

Refractive cataract surgery is ideal for patients who want to correct vision and reduce reliance on glasses at the same time as cataract removal. By combining cataract extraction with the implantation of advanced lenses, like multifocal or extended depth of focus IOLs, patients may enjoy clearer near, intermediate, and distance vision.

RxSight® Light Adjustable Lens Implant

The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is the first lens that can be customized after implantation. Using an office-based UV light delivery system, the lens’ curvature can be fine-tuned to achieve the patient’s optimal vision. LAL technology offers LASIK-like precision, allowing patients to test and adjust their distance, monovision, or modified monovision settings for daily life.

Monofocal Lens Implant

Monofocal IOLs provide clear vision at a single distance, often optimized for distance vision. Many patients use reading glasses for close tasks after surgery, but monofocal lenses offer a reliable, long-term solution for clear, natural vision.

Multifocal Lens Implant

Multifocal IOLs allow for clear vision at multiple distances, helping patients reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses. These lenses are designed for those who want greater freedom for reading, driving, and everyday activities, providing a broad range of visual clarity.

Toric Lens Implant

Toric lenses are specifically designed to correct astigmatism during cataract surgery. Patients with irregular corneal or lens shapes can benefit from toric implants to reduce blurry or distorted vision. Eye Surgeons of Indiana performs more toric IOL procedures than any other practice in Indiana.

About Cataract Surgery with Dr. Cacchillo

Is Cataract Surgery Right for Me?

Cataract surgery is appropriate for patients whose natural lenses are clouded enough to affect daily life. You might consider surgery if you experience:

  • Cloudy or blurry vision that makes reading or driving difficult
  • Trouble seeing at night or glare from lights
  • Seeing halos around lights
  • Fading or yellowing of colors
  • Double vision in one eye

Our doctors will perform a comprehensive evaluation to ensure cataract surgery is safe for you, taking into account your overall eye health, lifestyle, and visual goals.
