Dr. Chad Herschberger joined Eye Surgeons of Indiana as a consultative optometrist in 2025. His clinical interests include glaucoma, retinal disease, peri-operative care, cataracts and emergency eye care.
Dr. Herschberger was born and raised in northern Indiana and attended Indiana University where he majored in molecular biology. Following his undergraduate education, he attended the Indiana University School of Optometry where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2023.
He then went on to complete a competitive post-doctoral residency in ocular disease at Bennett and Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville, Kentucky. During his residency, he received advanced training in corneal disease, glaucoma, oculoplastics, peri-operative management, emergency eye care, and developed a special focus in retinal disease.
While at Indiana University, Dr. Herschberger held leadership roles in several organizations, including the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists and the Ocular Disease Club. He also served as an Associate Instructor of Binocular Vision. His excellence in clinical care was recognized with multiple honors, including the American Academy of Optometry J. Pat Cummings Award, the American Academy of Optometry Practice Excellence Award, and the Indiana Optometric Association Alice J. Bennett Memorial Award.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Herschberger enjoys mountain biking, climbing, reading, traveling, and spending time in the gym. He married his wife, Havuka, in May 2023.
