For patients in Lafayette, Indiana, PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) provides a safe, effective way to improve vision. Enhance your eyes’ potential to see on their own.
What Is PRK?
PRK is a laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to improve how light focuses on the retina. Unlike LASIK, PRK does not involve creating a flap-like incision in the cornea, the eye’s clear dome. Instead, the laser is applied to the outermost layers of the cornea after gently removing a thin surface layer.
While visual outcomes are similar to LASIK, PRK generally requires a slightly longer healing period. Most patients achieve 20/20 vision or better, making PRK an excellent choice for patients with thinner corneas or corneal surface irregularities.
